Robert Chambers aka “The Preppy Killer” Back in 1986, this case dominated the local New York City news. After a night of drinking at a bar on the Upper East Side called Dorian’s, Jennifer Levin and Robert Chambers walked into Central Park. The next morning she was found dead from an apparent strangulation. Chambers later claimed it was an accident that resulted from consensual rough sex. During the trial, he was portrayed as an altar boy with a promising future. In reality, Chambers was your run of the mill prep school screw up; constantly in trouble and being bounced from several private schools before the Levin scandal. Chambers was released after several years of prison time only to find himself back in jail for drug use. Sad.
