Strawman and Dr. K
My two favorite Mets of all time. A lot of people will remember the off the field drama; which is a shame. These 2 players were gifted with some of the most natural talent I have ever seen. Strawberry was tall and lanky and would take a large sweeping step into the pitch before unleashing that beautiful monster swing. He had power and speed. The Doc was a beast; and the cornerstone of that stellar 5 man Championship Mets rotation (with Darling, Ojeda, Sid Fernandez and Aguilera). He made pitching look beautiful. He was a freak of nature - power, grace, composure. In 1985 he went 24-4 with a 1.53 ERA, 16 complete games, 268 K’s. Beast.
They both won championships with the NY Mets and the Yankees. Gangsta.
