Gleaming the Cube

By 1989, skateboarding was popular enough to serve in the supporting role of a mainstream film. This movie was ehhhh. At the time, I watched it cause it was one of the few outlets for watching skating that existed. The redeeming quality of the film is the use of the famous pro skaters as stunt doubles. (The Bones Brigade, Gator, Eric Dressen, Natas Kaupas).

The poster artwork is typical 80’s airbrush steez. I’ll give props for the use of an actual pair of Airwalk’s in the shot. However, “shame on you” for the chrome nose guard and the metal grate texture used instead of griptape on the top of the board. That’s fiction.
